When it gets wet it gives off acetylene gas (this is how, allegedly, it can be used to deal with pesky seagulls!) So, small fire, fireman Sam puts his hose on it, carbide gets wet, acetylene given off, BANG, and then the ammonium nitrate sitting next to it goes up, BAAAAANNNGGGGG... The site manager is in custody. Death penalty probably awaits if he's found to have violated any rules - at least that's what they did to the guy who was held responsible for the poisonous baby formula.
