Not one of the mainstream outlets referred to him as a terrorist, but as "perpetrator" and "mass murderer". Wording is pretty important when discussing these matters, the actual quote is "some sympathy for the motives behind the attacks". Which is a very different picture than the one your sentence paints. The fact that the majority of Muslims are not rushing headlong into Jihad does not mean that they are at ease with the kind of lives that westerners are used to. As their numbers grow as a percentage of the total population they will seek greater change in line with their own beliefs. We have only just begun. I look forward to a time when religion is as important as say the football club people support. Getting there is going to be a long struggle, but I do know Christians and Muslims who have that attitude towards their religion. It just isn't that important to them. Is there something intrinsic about Islam which will stop this happening?
