Taking Pride In The Raj.

No just someone who speaks the truth. The British Empire started off for the wrong reasons (money) but later on when Britain became more of a democracy the empire really was all altruistic and about civilising the world. The only reason it ended was because we were spending so much money on making other countries better that we started running out of money. We have a lot to be proud of.

DO you know how many native people we had to kill to bring them "civilization"?

This analysis of the world's transport systems is fascinating.

The huge investment in Railways in India is a testament to the ambitions of Empire and for its level of development (India is far poorer than South America on a Per Capita basis and roughly on a par with Africa) India has an incredibly advanced transport infrastructure. Considering most of it was built in the late 19th century it is quite amazing - compare India's network to China's.

Outside of the developed world nowhere has a rail system of the size and scope of the Indian sub-continent.

Those Scots and Irish engineers who were such an important part of Empire left a lasting legacy in India - as did the surveyors in the Great Arc. Everest is called Everest for a reason!
