This farce shows Tynwald up to be a bunch of self preserving idiots, who are proving more and more how inept and corrupt they are. They and their top officers just keep on taking more and more whilst achieving less and less.

Wage increases for most sectors are still being kept at a very low level, which is leading to difficulties recruiting in most sectors and yet they still refuse to accept any form of reform to their own pay and conditions.

Every MHK bar one has a departmental pay uplift, and this is spreading into Leg-Co as well now.

The whole system is proving how corrupt it is more and more, and I think that like most people on this Island, the outcome of the Lisvane debate had a guaranteed outcome before it even started.

A so called Government, that oversees such problems for its population should hang its head in shame !!

A government, and its leader, with integrity, backbone and honesty would hang its head in shame.

However....

It's atrocious what we've witnessed in Tynwald over the past two days. The 'Government of Steadfast Complacency' has done it's utmost to ensure little reform is made, whilst it's 'leaders' aren't held to account on important issues one jot. It's a parody of a parliamentary democracy where the views of the electorate receive very short thrift

According to Howard Quayle the electorate aren't bothered about things like LegCo and Lisvane.

That really does show how out of touch the man is.

There have been plenty of contributors on Manx Radio Talking Heads/Mannin Line who are interested and are probably more aware than Quayle himself, judging by his interview with Lisvane when he was here.

Well Howard Quayle will be delighted tonight, the Lisvane Report has been referred to a special Tynpotwald committee, chaired by the Squeaker Watterson, and Baker, Boot, Allison  and Cretiny amongst the brains trust. This little hot potato will be well and truly kicked into the long grass. In all fairness can anyone see Cretiny voting for it? It's doubtful any change will occur for some time ........... the ayes have it the ayes have it.

All I can say is that they had better do right by the Manx people, I don't hold out much hope that Watterson and Cretney will want change, too institutionalised, but I have faith in the others.

This is more important than Quayle seems to think, it could be the undoing of him and others if they try to brush this aside.

The loss of the VAT has shone a light on exactly what goes on here (IMHO) and as others predicted it would.

The increased pressures on finances has in turn questioned leadership, political workings and the priorities of those responsible for such. And we have already been able to see now for some time what the outcomes are; who defends the vested and not-so-vested interests and exactly who is and will be bearing the brunt of the sacred cows and status quo's remaining.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Change will have to be implemented from outside IoM. And not on a voluntary, suggested/recommended basis as per Lisvane. How bad things have to get and how long it goes on for before it does might be different questions.

What's the background to that picture Woody.

"The Puppet Revolution"

"Up the Rebels"

It's a protest to try and get the Manx government to permit Radio Caroline North to continue broadcasting from Ramsey Bay. They buckled under pressure from the UK government, as usual.

ETA, This is following the Manx Governments decision to cow tow to their UK masters on the subject.

And where is your big mate the "reform" Minister? He has to be a candidate for the Phil Gawne Award for the quickest establishment sell out once given a Ministry.

Julie Edge won the vote today for an investigation into govt wages and grades etc.

Pound to a pinch of shit she gets voted down when the final proposal is debated.

'Ooooh...this will cost £100k' so lets vote against.

Potential saving to us - £millions.

Do nothing, fanny about, keep the staus quo Quayle...will do nothing. Is doing nothing.

He's even got Chris Thomas on board moaning about the costs.

Chris...you can reduce the bill by 20%. Put your Chris Thomas head back on...not the lobotomised government minister PR-Driven non-thinking head.
