I cracked on I never knew who he was and played dumb to a lot of the conversation to see how switched on he was when the subject came to the island and how things currently look. If he was involved in any kind of commercial negotiations I shudder to think of the cost to the taxpayer. I think the momentum is moving on this now. Quayle has the perfect opportunity to show that he intends to be tough on cronyism and abuse of process or rules in the public sector. After this (and the stuff with TinyCow before the election) Skelly should be pretty much a dead (DED) man walking. After this hearing Quayle would do well to make a complete example of him and the people who ran this 'tender' process in the Department and use it as a way of sending out a message that the IOM is listening to people and changing. It's almost the perfect opportunity to show the voters he is concerned about maintaining the IOMs reputation and making the public sector accountable to the taxpayer. But who can make an example of Quayle ? Not squeaky clean by any stretch of the imagination.

What about when Skelly or people in the DED who will take the rap point out to HQ some of his skeletons he might have in the closet? Government over here works on the basis of mutual back scratching. A wink and a tap tap on the nose and everyone on the inside wins, at the expense of the tax-paying plebs on the outside.

I'm not so sure this time round as Skelly is a cat who had burned at least two lives (Vision 9, Jacksons Concert) before he even got voted back in. notwell
It is difficult to understand how someone won't be held accountable here although perhaps they already have.

Andy Onchan
" The first part of the evidence from Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly, DED political member David Cretney, DED chief executive Mark Lewin and his predecessor Chris Corlett, motorsport development manager Paul Phillips and former DED deputy chief executive David Ronan, will be heard in public". http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=33394&headline=A done deal%3F Vision 9 probe hears evidence§ionIs=news&searchyear=2017 And what of the former Chief & Treasury Ministers, are they now untouchable? Unless these two give evidence the picture will not be complete.

So, is that it? We won't be able to get to listen in on the non secret stuff that wasn't not in the public interest like ever? Surely not. (Lot of not). It's a bit like the phone lines at the Governments Mouthpiece and Propaganda outlet 'Manx Radio' Sunday Moanin Line, failing. Very convenient when MHKs are on. They don't believe in the truth. Besides if the truth were told or discovered, nothing will be done. Usual bullshit, lessons will be learned or another Manx Government favourite trick - inquiry chaired by 'Athol Street' lawyer.
