Albert Tatlock
Given the storms and wind directions we occasionally get here...I'd give that design 5 to 8 years before it's destroyed.

Well, but first they've got to buy two, make sure it's up to spec. And hire and Tug management team. Probably buy a third just to be on the safe side. It's probably not too far out. Leasing or rental costs, crews wages, fuel, repairs etc. Do you have any actual numbers you could share that would disprove that figure at all? finlo
That floating crane that keeps seeking shelter in Ramsey bay costs 50k a day to charter, so 2 million a year for two vessels sounds cheap.

Now that gave me a chuckle. I don't see why ! The head honcho saw fit to post a plan on here (Of which the scales didn't add up by the way !) of a floating fucking pontoon , they've now changed the design to more of a fixed structure . What made them change it ? You'd have thought with all the so called experts on board they'd at least have come up with a design suitable for the proposed location before sharing it and seeking funding! Just asking....
Lxxx
Word on the street is that a well connected family with links into government stand to do quite well out of this, if you get my drift.
ellanvannin2010
The not so new radar at the airport might be handy to keep track of all the cruise ships though, or the remains of the jetty after a good Irish sea storm
Lxxx
Another way of looking at it is if we don't spend it it's only going to be gobbled up by the pigs in the trough. The money will run out soon anyway, it's just a matter of time, so to spend it on infrastructure projects so the island has even a chance of a benefit (and not just the parasites on the public and pensions payroll) works for me and all our kids/grandkids. The way I see it it's a race to gobble up what remaining reserves we have left, as we're never going to balance a true budget ever again without serious reform, which will never happen voluntarily. Hard to be specific on tug charters. They tend to be for the moment...for the job...The brokers today are jealous about information . They will tell you what they have available, where and what it can do...But the hire? You have to be a serious player before you get good information...Google "Recent tug charter fixtures"...or "Tug charter hire rates"...Not much!
