This is one of the problems - lack of decent info.

Johnson has set it up so there will be no debate in the HoC on "progress" or whatever you care to call it. Except for the odd flurry at PMQ's and drip-feeding what they want you to hear by totally untrustworthy greasy shysters like Gove. The sensible option is don't believe a word of it.

The BBC license fee has been put front and centre to make them tone everything down. Can't fault the logic.

Which leaves the UK rabid right wing press, which is to say pretty much all of it. At the behest of the owner they have been running down the EU for years and years. But since the referendum they seem to have slipped into reporting on an alternative reality where everything is amazingly wonderful, presumably to keep the hard of thinking on side while they can.

A classic example the other day. One of them reported an EU official saying: "No one can stop Britain..." inferring that everything will be wonderful in 2021. What he actually said was "No one can stop Britain going off a cliff....!" which has just slightly different connotations as I'm sure you'll agree...

As I said, reporting on an "alternative reality" - so who to believe?

The piece I quoted on the "oven ready deal" nonsense, which nobody sensible should have believed anyway, came from the Independent. I'm OK with that...

It's not "Right Wing Press".  We really don't have any MSM that's "Right Wing" though IMO The Sun newspaper is somewhat sensationalist and very "lo-brow".  What we do have are a couple of newspapers that address and reflect box populi that really get up the snout of remoaners but since the remoaners are the minority where the BREXIT referendum is concerned that's just a case of tough tittie.

No Roger.

What you mean is we don't have any MSM that's right wing enough for you....

I'm sure that you are OK with it. Unfortunately, this doesn't alter the fact that it's wrong. As you say - lack of decent information. The "oven ready" deal was the WA that BJ slightly amended from TM's earlier version and then put to Parliament which promptly played right into his hands by voting it down and agreeing to the election. He then led the campaign referring relentlessly to this "oven ready" Brexit deal that he needed a majority to get through Parliament. He won and it went through. That's all there is to the "oven ready" deal chapter. It matters not that some journo wants to stretch the meaning beyond what it was. It cannot alter the facts. As your article says, the "oven ready" deal is no more. Of course it is no more, because the WA has done its job and the UK is out of the EU.

Few people would know really right wing media if it bit them on the arse.

The real cause for concern is the oh so plausible socialist crap or the totally impractical idealistic rubbish so beloved by wannabe intellectuals.

Even that POS Blair is now admitting that the EU has been bad news.

The real concern for me is the global rise of populism where mendacious self-serving politicos have no qualms whatsoever about lying to their electorate. It's particularly bad when the usual checks and balances, like decent media outlets, not only fail to expose them for what they are but actually build on their lies.

The problem being lies do not fix complex problems and never will...

Mea Culpa. (probably)

Although I never believe the nonsense Johnson comes out with anyway...
