And what about those engaged by Uber, Deliveroo and others in the gig economy who simply don't earn enough to have three months money set aside.  Your solutions are always over simplified.

If they are self employed then basically tough. They may be eligible for "Benefits" otherwise not our problem.

Very simplistic view of the problem, don't you see that in these extraordinary times without support "they" could very quickly become "our " problem?

I have tried to explain to you that there are thousands of people working in health and social care who are deemed to be self-employed.  Those people are looking after some of the most vulnerable people in our society and I therefore believe that there should be some support for them to ensure that they do not spread the virus.

No.  "Our" problem is resolved by various Benefit payments they might be eligible to receive.

Which places them under increased financial pressure as it does not come close to covering their lost income.

Then basically tough.  Really. I don't "do" Socialism in any shape or form.

Or empathy

Indeed, I am sure if he was to catch Covid-19 as a result of contact with someone engaged in the "gig economy" or as part of a personal limited company working within the NHS or Social Services he would be the first to complain about it.
