Narrow minded does not mean focused.

Yes it does. At least in my case.  Maybe the fact that I really couldn't give a tinkers cuss about other people, especially foreigners, comes into play.

Pure speculation.

The usual label the brexiteers hang on anything negative about their totally stupid and completely unnecessary brexit is "Project Fear" or similar.

That always makes the downside just disappear...

Why would we bring in 90,000 foreigners when we have millions laid off and twiddling their thumbs? Get 'em in there under emergency powers.

Errrr because slave labour went out of fashion a while ago...?

Who said anything about slave labour? Slaves didn't get paid, if you didn't know. If you are holding your hand out for the government largesse then no doubt you'll be happy and eager to pull your weight in the emergency while looking cheerful about it. In what world do people who are laid off and being paid £2,500 a month by the state carry on sitting on their arses while 90,000 foreigners are brought in to work on the land? Cloud cuckoo land? Don't be absurd.

The farmers say it is too hard to train them

How freakin' hard is it to pull vegetables out of the ground? Not rocket science. They probably mean too many are bone idle. Time for change!

I agree with you, but they had some lettuce farmer on the news the other day whinging about it. Thing is, if they want staff they may have to consider paying a little more.

Personally right now I'd be happy to go and work on a farm for £70 a day. Suit me down to the ground, and as there is nothing to blow money on I don't need to earn that much.

I am sure there would be many others with that attitude too at the moment. Come to think about it I saw that report, I think it was on the BBC, and they were appealing for workers to go there. As you say, there is a market for labour and long term they need to pay the price, not rely on cheap foreign workers. If it means another 10p on a lettuce then so be it.

Just tonight?

I'm no footie fan but even I know that putting on that unwatchable Mrs Browns bollox is just going to make everyone miserable because they wish they could go down the pub....
