pongo
Telegraph is pushing the idea of Sajid Javid as the next party leader / PM. Seems very bright. I could definitely see him as a British Macron. Sajid Javid could be the leader-in-waiting the Tories need to restore purpose to the party - Daily Telegraph

And has shown that he is not good at working with people. Also - he leads a minority fringe. So more or less the same as Corbyn. The Conservative Party has a more subtle way of finding leaders - to avoid similar mistakes.

pongo
Larry the Downing St cat would probably be a popular choice. Intensely territorial, hates change. Distrusts outsiders. He ticks a lot of the right boxes.

Freggyragh
I think it should be Davis, or someone else from the unicorn faction. The more we have to take of his sort saying the EU are ‘posturing for the public’ by doing exactly as their own rules say they must (rules agreed by Britain ffs!!!) the better. The charlatans must be the ones to explain why leaving the EU means: Leaving Galileo, Erasmus, Euratom, etc. The U.K.’s trade agreements have ended and how ‘sovereignty’ will be compromised by any future deals. Delays at borders for British goods and British passport holders, and an rise in visa fees for third countries. No more access to the European Arrest Warrant and no extradition treaties in place. Etc, etc. Only when the entire tragedy has been presented can the full lesson be learnt. May and Hammond leave too much wriggle room for the unicornists to claim there’s nothing wrong with Brexit, it’s must just be that May and Hammond are putting a spanner in the works. I say, let Fox, Davis and Rees-Mogg take over for 12 months. The country would recover, their reputations would not.
