The EU isn’t perfect at all, it has a lot of things that need ironing out or reforming. However, leaving, especially in the totally inept way the U.K. is negotiating the terms of exit is plain moronic. The greedy chancers who stand to gain are laughing so hard at the gammon they despise its just cruel.

Freggyragh
David Davis is doing the negotiating - he may be slowly coming round to the logic of remain in light of cold, hard reality, but he was a staunch leaver back in the days of leave’s magic bus. Britain is leaving the EU. But those in favour an ideological hard Brexit now blame the inevitable difficulties and complications of Brexit on everyone but themselves. They lied that it would be easy. Although to be fair - most who campaigned for Britain to leave had said that also leaving the Single Market would be crazy. Even Farage said that Norway would be a good outcome. For these people Brexit has disappointment built in. Because it will never be clean enough. Any negotiated on-going arrangements, from their simplistic perspective, amount to compromise. And now even turning on each other. Eg the growing criticism of David Davis. 32 minutes ago, woody2 said: well he turns up to have his photo taken..... If JRM were PM he would be facing exactly the same criticism as Mrs May and the Cabinet. Because the practical and pragmatic business of government is much more difficult. In many ways it would great to see him in charge. Owning the mess. And then who would they blame? Edited June 14, 2018 by pongo

I don't go along with the argument that MPs should vote according to how their constituencies voted. MPs are Representatives not Delegates. But it's worth noting that JRM's North East Somerset constituency voted Remain 57.9% vs Leave 42.1%.
ballaughbiker
Quote In many ways it would great to see him in charge. Owning the mess. And then who would they blame? Indeed but the hypocrisy of JRM telling us (like all the other suspects) that all will be well after Brexit yet moving part of his business to Dublin is astounding. Its almost as if the loudest supporters of Brexit had the most to gain financially (potentially from it), and least to lose. I don't think Derek the plumber from Scunthorpe is in the same position to move his business affairs off-shore like JRM, but he will certainly feel the bite when the "dream" comes.
