They don’t have free movement, in any of people, goods, services or capital, they are in a customs union, but not in the single market. free movement doesn’t exist either way. Economy is fundamentally strong, but two political idiots of the right, Erdogan and Trump, seem determined to fuck things up. Yes, they get an annual payment towards accession reforms. Like every candidate country. It runs out in 2020 and as everyone recognises accession is a dead duck it won’t be renewed. Barrie Stevens
It has been reported that the UK Treasury has shifted vast amounts of the nation's money from the US Dollar to the Euro. According to the Guardian anyway (Today's issue) there is groundswell shift towards giving up on Brexit as a bad job or not worth the candle/risk/turmoil such that another referendum would result in Remain. Now the old sweats of the money markets and retired bookies often told me that if you want to see what is likely to happen: "Follow the money"... And it was only ever a visa waiver scheme for tourists, limited to 90 days and to Schengen only. The would still have needed a visa to travel direct to UK or to UK via Schengen. But W2 never lets facts get in the way of his prejudice. It doesn’t compute. It’s called cognitive dissonance.
ballaughbiker
Like a lot of woodyfacts there is a trace of a story within. Apparently Turkey asked for free movement of workers in exchange for a trade deal. That was a year or two back and nothing became of it and given the present political position there, I doubt it ever will.
