They do not switch all the time. When a ship is registered in a country that country becomes its nationality. It comes under the laws of that country and the treaties and conventions it follows. This makes the ship legitimate and thus gives it the right to trade anywhere. Now we shall see P&0 cross channel ferries six of them apparently with Cyprus flag status and able to go anywhere. On your logic they would have to stay in Limmassol  or wherever in Cyprus. On your logic the Ben my Chree could never sail to Dublin. As regards split registration...tell me would one half of the ship be in Cyprus and the other half say in Dover...How would you reconcile the laws of two countries applying to one ship?

they switch flags all the time, always have done, its nothing new or to do with exit......

Daily Express has caught up...By the way I have changed flags for ships and it is not done lightly. Think of the finance and classification issues.

remoaners like you should go exercise their current freedom of movement and go and live in the eu before its gone.......

For why? For what reason should the poster move to the post brexit EU. As punishment perhaps? I dont get it. Why does acceptance of free movment mean the ppl who accept it should move to another place.. I dont get the logic of that.

#BREAKING: Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says if there is a no-deal #Brexit then Irelnad and UK would have to negotiate an arrangment similar to the backstop to honour Good Friday Agreemnt. He says we can't give up backstop in return for a promise that it’ll be alright on the night."

:whistling:

If the UK find the Backstop unpalatable now, why would they agree Leo Varadkar's proposal. Still in cloud cookoo land.

I look forward to the southern Irish and non army of the Eu to make the nuclear armed country comply

So because the Taoiseach says that there will have to be a backstop that means it has to happen? I must have missed the Irish invasion that gave him the power to dictate what the British state does.

If UK leave on WTO and EU wants to make a problem of their border with an independent UK in the Ireland region then UK can just ignore them. If they want to build a border that's just up to them.

and.........

The proposed backstop doesn’t honour the good Friday agreement in terms of NI’s relationship with GB..

Like me many people do not love the EU. Like me they reluctantly voted Remain on the basis that Brexit as promoted is not a viable proposition at this time...Especially in the hands of those promoting it!
