How do you know "fullfact" don't have an agenda?

Have you checked out their three main backers?

Follow the links. They go back to the official ONS data.

So that's a "No" then.

Why didn't you just say so....?

How is the constitution of Fullfact relevant if the actual data is official from ONS?  It isn't relevant at all is it?

Why do you just ignore factual information that is presented to you? This cobblers about half the workforce being on zero hours contracts has been spread around by left wing agitators for years. There is no truth to it whatsoever.

Do you think that ONS is in cahoots with a fullfact conspiracy?

No. The components are made in the UK. That was part of the original deal. Those businesses will also suffer. the hinterland is many thousands of jobs.

It would be wrong to pretend that the Honda decision is only about Brexit. But it would be utterly idiotic to pretend that it is not about Brexit.

Swindon voted to leave.  They got their way.

So you think they would have carried on indefinitely with a plant running at 50% capacity were it not for Brexit? It may be about Brexit in the sense that it gives them a convenient excuse to pull out and divert the flak away from themselves, but that would be about the limit.

I find it a bit strange that Nissan and Honda are moving production back to Japan - where labour costs are high and there is a huge labour shortage. That’s not to say this isn’t about brexit because it clearly is.

It's about retrenchment in a time of poor sales. If it was just about Brexit then surely they would move it to the continent and keep manufacturing in the EU.

It's about the way things are presented to put a spin on the "facts" as it were.....

For example Farage, Gove and Johnson simplified complicated issues like the UK contributing to the EU whilst completely ignoring the rabate as a sop to the stupid.

OK, so it didn't work as well as expected so they then unashamedly played the racist card, which regretfully did appeal to the baser instincts of a lot of UK voters.

You clearly haven't checked out the provenance of "fullfact" - so maybe you should before quoting them as the ONLY purveyors of factual information.

Simple as....

As previously posted, every business decision is going to be blamed on Brexit now.

No. But if the company says that Brexit is a factor, but the politician says it isn’t, who do you believe?

In this case, for the last thirty four years Honda Swindon have been selling into Europe from the U.K., without tariffs. The U.K. based motor industry was competitive and ideally placed - exporting £1B worth of products a year to Japan itself.

The U.K. could have protected the Swindon factory, but preferred to ‘take back control’ by not helping to shape the EU-Japan trade agreement that now accounts of 1/3 of global trade. Instead, they are hoping to do a cut and paste copy of the deal, and are now finding out that they won’t get as good a deal as the EU is getting.

As the leavers are talking about a future scenario with a restricted labour market with ‘hostile environment’ for international specialists and their families, paperwork every time a component or finished vehicle crosses the border and a likely 10% tariffs on finished goods, you can see why Honda are pulling out. They haven’t got any other factories in Europe, so it makes sense, given the new trading realities to base production in Japan - despite the high cost of labour.

At least for the time being, from the international perspective the U.K. is a basket case - and I’d say that politicians denying that brexit has anything to do with the current meltdown in manufacturing is a glaring symptom of the delusion.

Tomlinson is an avid Leaver and he wants to be re-elected hence Honda abandoning the UK has nothing whatever to do with Brexit.

Of course it hasn't.

Not at all.

No, really it hasn't.

Honestly......

Mind you, this is the twat who took a photograph of Sadiq Khan using his mobile while driving and sent it to Inspector Knacker....

I don't have a problem with anyone being "grassed up" for using a mobile phone while driving .

Those individuals who do use a mobile phone while driving are , as you quaintly put it ,the "twats" IMO.

Just saying:flowers:

Ian Howells, senior vice-president for Honda in Europe, told the BBC: "We're seeing unprecedented change in the industry on a global scale. We have to move very swiftly to electrification of our vehicles because of demand of our customers and legislation.

"This is not a Brexit-related issue for us, it's being made on the global-related changes I've spoken about.
