who's "he"? next PM whoever that turns out to be.

the cu is nowhere near a majority..... CU is quite near a majority, once the SNP, LD and PC give up on preventing Brexit, which they'll have to once the UK leaves.

if they want a cu then the easiest way is the wa and it's free..... I accept that, but for the moment the SNP, LD and PC want to Remain. Once that is no longer a possiblity a custom's union is the next best thing, from their perspective.

they might not even get a vote on a future trade deal according to labour.....

of course the uk could walk away if it wants but highly unlikely at this time.......What's the mechanism for walking away from the Withdrawal Agreement after it has come into effect. Isn't that precisely what the ERG / DUP are concerned about?   different pm and after a ge parliament could look very different......  It could be one where the balance of power is in the hands of the SNP, LD and PC or the TIG and it's their concerns the new PM has to address rather than the ERG/DUP

My responses in bold.

they have already voted on a cu motion........it failed.........snp have already put this forward.......

it's daft to pay for a cu if you could get one for free......

a non-binding motion will have zero effect on this pm or the next even if they can get to 318.......

rumour is 3 members didn't vote for an extension.........it could be more next time.......

Another W2 factoid that doesn’t bear examination.

Agreeing extension needs unanimity. That means they all had to vote in favour.

abstention equals a yes apparently.........which is why the meeting was so long.......one of the longest meetings ever..........

NEW: The Independent Group has applied to be a political party in case they need to field candidates in the European elections if there’s a Brexit delay. They’ll be called Change UK - The Indepedent Group and Heidi Allen is the interim leader, with Chuka Umunna as lead spokesman

Question...

If the UK Government has had no (or very limited at least) control over the UK economy, trade and laws since the EU came into existence, what the hell have all the MP's been doing for the last god knows how many years?

most of the uk economy has nothing to do with either..........

neither has made the uk richer only poorer......especially the eu.........

Raaaaab, Boris and the Moggster all voted for her deal today after previously voting against.

Proving that they'll vote for anything now to get the Brexit they crave.

It was last gasp for them to get it through as it stands. Failed.
