Doesn't matter how many elections it holds the EU is undemocratic. It's an inalienable fact. Particularly if you believe in the self-determination of sovereign states.

All that's happened to UK so-called "sovereignty" is to fall in line on trading arragements like you would have to in ANY trading arrangement with the EU or whoever. It's nothing to do at all with policy making.

Love "the unalienable fact" that ALL this legislation is passed by the HoC before it goes on the statute books.

Brexiteers seem to forget that bit. It's the "set up" thingy as in "An FTA will need to be set up" if you know what I mean....?

This is interesting, PK. I don't know what was in their minds. Perhaps they were thinking of Lee Rigby, or maybe the Ariana Grande bombing in Manchester and registering a protest. But being fair-minded as always, supposing we accept your take on the 38,908 who voted for him. That then takes care of your racist, feeble-minded, Wail reading little Englanders. What about the other 600,000 plus in the same region who voted for Brexit?

Lee Rigby’s family aren’t fascists and if you want to honour his memory, why not donate to the retreat for bereaved families set up in his name. It’s only raised £3,577 since it was set up a month ago. It’s only fair if you’re going to expropriate his name to support your politics. The poison dwarf could have more than doubled that figure by not not standing and donating his deposit.

Do you really think Lee Rigby would be proud of these snowflakes?

No, I’m not including the Brexit Company’s motley crew of Hedge Fund Managers, Spivs, Revolutionary Communists, silver-spooners and oddballs. They might be delusional, desperate to avoid tax, or misguidedly patriotic, but they are peddling fantasy, not hate.

Hmmm. BoJo now facing potential legal action for "Misconduct in Public Office" over the "£350M for NHS" bus advertisement. (Sky News).

Case being based on misleading of the Electorate. A senior judge has now decreed that matters should be investigated further. BoJo's lawyers not happy....

@ Freggy. You didn't read my post at all did you?

I read your post and I can assure you that the racists were split between Yaxley-Lennon and Farage.

The number of votes Y-L received shouldn't surprise anyone really. The brexit campaign led to a surge of race hate crimes resulting in the murder of Jo Cox. No doubt fuelled by the lies on immigration being fed to the stupid by the lowbrow, in thrall to the owner's agenda UK right wing press, which is to say pretty much all of it.

Well, those crimes were comitted by someone....

Thank you for a wise contribution.

Agreed.

That said, the campaigning in the run up to the EU referendum by UKIP and certain others empowered that small group to become more vocal, and to take action.

We saw Jo Cox murdered, an increase in crimes based around race and immediately following the referendum results EU nationals having leaflets pushed through their door telling them to go home.

The result empowered certainly empowered racist thugs - but no way were all brekshitters racist thugs.

Looking at the Brexit Company UKIP has  morphed into  - it’s not overtly racist, but it is organised like a non-democratic fascist party with a cult of personality around the leader. I wouldn’t be surprised if their next step is to take Farage worship up a level - he’s already got thousands of ‘party’ members who don’t care that they have no voting rights and no policies other than ‘Farage Thought’.

There are other brekshitters though, and I’d guess there are plenty of true believers who would treat Sir Nigel like shit on their shoe if there really was a unicorn, but are happy to lend their support for now.

Interesting thing about politics is that if you rely on idiots voting for you, you’re often going to feel great on the hustings and be sorely disappointed at the count. Idiots will pledge to back you all the way - but when it comes down to it, they rarely bother to vote.

Of course, agreed, but "anti-foreigner speak" (whatever their colour or ethnicity) seems more acceptable since the referendum.

Wrong as it happens. As posted MF passim:

"Not everyone who voted for brexit is a racist.

But everyone who is a racist voted for brexit....."

Poor Jo Cox was murdered on the 16th June.

The referendum took place a week later.

So the inescapable conclusion is that the murderer was if not motivated but certainly fired up by the rhetoric of the lowbrow UK right wing press and the disgraceful behaviour of some so-called politicians.

However racist hate crimes certainly ramped up after the result.

Incidentally your opinion on the numbers is at odds with my experiences....

If you believed that the U.K. was going to get a free-trade with the EU, roll-over all the current free trade deals with third parties, even more free trade deals with other countries, not have to pay a penny for current commitments, opt out of loads of multi-national treaties, keep the city of culture projects, continue with Erasmus, not lose the European Medical Agency, keep rights to live and work in Europe, not have reciprocate those rights, keep London as the world’s major finance centre, maintain the value of the pound, keep manufacturing industry as was, improve environmental standards, maintain food quality standards, get European support for keeping hold of colonies, maintain pensions and give £350M a week to the NHS - and that if there wasn’t a brexit there would be a conscript EU army, an open door to Turkish immigration, no more veto, the pound replaced by the Euro, an EU superstate, etc. - well, you’d have voted brexit, wouldn’t you? Racism didn’t have to come into it - just gullibility and a trusting nature.
