notwell
The bottom line is that it didn't need saying. You don't see it in other inquests in any walk of life. When those two police officers were shot by Dale Cregen (or whatever his name was) you didn't see a description of what their injuries from being shot were did you? They were shot and they died (tragically). How they died ( for example whether the bullet shattered X part) is fucking unnecessary to the general public. It isn't about liking the TT or not. It's about common decency. Edited February 17, 2017 by notwell

It was very much unnecessary in the case of PS.

WTF
basically, if it refers to anything locally in a bad way the local people don't think we should read or hear about, if it happens off island with no obvious local connections all the gory details don't seem to be so much of a problem.
Tarne
Yeah, you see it in most cases. People enjoy gory details. I'm all for telling the gory details, it'll desensitize people for When The War Comes.
Max Power
I often wonder if we on the island have long had an acceptance of death and serious injury which the rest of the world abandoned as the two world wars became a memory?
La Colombe
There is some harrowing dashcam footage in this report which includes references to decapitation.
La Colombe
Interestingly, I notice that the incident I cited occurred in 2009 and the police are trying to publicise it for purposes of information, as a warning of possible consequences. Or, to put it another way, trying to ensure that motorcyclists know the risks. Sort of funny that.
notwell
How is it " sort of funny " ?
La Colombe
The police want people to know the risks and Mr Cretney appears to want people to not know the risks.
notwell
Where has Cretney ever tried to hide the risks of riding a motorbike (or specifically the TT which is what I assume you are getting at)?
La Colombe
I don't actually know where he did it, I'm just going on the original post. If that's inaccurate then I'm wrong as well.
gettafa
The police want people to know the risks and Mr Cretney appears to want people to not know the risks. David Cretney has always said if you want to race on the road, get a race licence. Fair comment.
