We simply don't know the motives behind this attack other than very sketchy information in the press. Maybe this person was entirely secular and had nothing to do with religion. Maybe he spent every day at the mosque preaching peace and togetherness, or maybe he was a hard line Wahabi who thought the Angel Garbiel was quoting verses of the Koran telling him to slaughter the infidels. How people manifest a psychosis can be related to their cultural environment and there is a part, a minority part, of the Islamic cultural environment which encourages people to be violent. Was this individual influenced by this cultural environment. We just do not know. Now ... if he was ... rmanx seems to think that would be exaggerated, while Tarne thinks it would be hushed up.
