I wonder if Joe Anderson,s arrest for dodgy property deals could be why we've seen the cost of this project spiral out of control?🔳

It certainly would be no surprise, IOMG are not renowned for their shrewd dealings, quite the opposite in fact so they would be ideal victims of those out to rape a sucker!

It would only ever cost no money if someone else builds it and iomspc lease it.  At huge cost with less control.

It's a better idea to go down the route they are now.  It'll their asset under their control.

But is it?

This isn’t a strategic route. It can’t handle freight, and with the current fleet it is broadly seasonal. It will need staffing, and security, maintenance, heating and lighting. And last time I looked, there was only Stena ploughing ferries in and out, and they seem to have the bases well covered at Birkenhead.

a vain waste of money. But the island never seems to run out of it, which is remarkable.

I note from a Sky News article today that following a Central Govt. Audit of Liverpool City Council matters, the UK Govt are now considering taking control of Liverpool City Council whose affairs are said to be in a "parlous state". A statement to be issued by Robert Jenrick early this coming week. This follows on from the arrest of Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson on corruption allegations.

He’d fit in well here.  Is he going to try for the election?

Yes, Douglas South HOK General Election.

On a serious note, Joe Anderson Ex Liverpool Mayor had clout, and was able to get investment for Liverpool. Our elected idiots have zero clout and are unable to get anything done!

And forms of illegality are not unique to the IOM, it’s elected officials and unelected public civil servants, who are immune to prosecution. Promotion beckons .....

What illegalities are you referring to? Which civil servants and MHKs?

Well you must think that most of our politicos, and civil and other public servants are whiter than Daz. Sadly there are some that are not, and that covers all areas of island life.
