Moghrey Mie
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince's_Half-Tide_Dock Original estimate £3.5 million. How on earth have the costs soared to £70 million?
Dirty Buggane
Because that is what happens when you let loose a bunch of incompetent MHK's and civil servants in a room full of shysters looking to line their pockets through the gullible manx government who could not govern a hard shite.

From the first ideas mooted it would seem blinkers were applied to all in authority and also listened to parties that it would seem had a vested interest in the project. Was it Gawne who suggested it wouldn’t cost us anything quickly followed by a 7 million max. Memory on these matters aren’t good. ! Now we clearly are being bent over a barrel , trousers or skirts dropped , and given a good whipping. And you know what , few if any are surprised by this outcome. If we all looked after our finances like IOM government does we would be homeless and on the street…Ohhh wait , it’s not there money there spewing out. In my opinion IOM govt should not be let loose with any scheme with potential to cost millions without a full and proper assessment of anything remotely complex. They clearly haven’t the skill set and there ‘experts’ and consultants clearly don’t either. Another sad day in world of Manx tax payers. The Beamans report said exactly that. 1

Many people said it would become the Bus Vannin of the Irish Sea when the deal went through and little encourages you to think any different the way the infrastructure costs have just gone astronomical on everything they’ve done since. There’s a real worry the new fares will actually stop people coming here not encourage tourism either. The Manxman cabin and restaurant costs will be interesting when published. You get the impression that someone has dreamed up the business case around now its a 4 hour sailing we can corral these people all in one place and ram a large root vegetable up their arse for 4 hours as part of the luxury Irish Sea ‘experience’. And that isn’t going to happen sailing from two shitty ports like Liverpool and Heysham to a rock in the middle of the Irish Sea.

Everyone is being to quiet and coy on the end cost. It’s going to be horrendous and in my view is being suppressed due to the Ranson case and the likes . Chris Thomas is avoiding answering the question as likely doesn’t know a final cost but he knows ,I am sure , it’s much more than 70 million… Never mind , the tax payer will stump it up . asitis
Why were we different from Peel Ports, they dropped the project from their initial offer, presumably because they foresaw the now unforeseen difficulties ! 1
Dirty Buggane
Cost are probably being hide as fast as possible, various budgets raped Books being cooked so as to be as crooked a trail that Tonto the lone rangers side kick would have a hard job following. Just as the prom figures are also being mismanaged and moved around so as to be unreadable to us mear plebs. As to the arrogance of Thomas in his interview, we(the public) just can not comprehend the figures and have to be some one with super skills like himself to be able to track them. The man is so full of shit, let's club together and hire a forensic accountant and let him have free-range of the books and see just where the money went and who's incompetence has caused this shit show. Then sack them, no pension and recover what ever money we can from them. I know it would be peanuts but it would make me happier that they suffer and join the dole que, and also serve as a warning fuck up and there is consequences not fuck off with golden handshake and a pension. And as stated many times before they all start shouting we have to pay the pension. No we don't we make our own rules change the law. We will get nobody to work for us yes, we will at the stupid money the government are paying and might be an incentive to do your job well ie serve the public not the civil service.

I’ve booked a cabin on manxman for September & it’s exactly the same price as Ben ie £65 but don’t let simple facts spoil the rants!

The Ben takes four hours (ish) on the Heysham route. The Manxman will take four hours (ish) on the Heysham route. It can go faster, and will go faster if there are delays, but then it would use more fuel, and more fuel makes the ticket price higher. And we’re talking a lot more fuel- IIRC 5 knots faster pretty much doubles the fuel burn. If you wish to stick root veg up your arse do book a cabin though. It’s frowned upon in public areas.

Does the cost of the cabin include a root vegetable? Nice little tray…kettle, teabag, those tiny pots of milk and a parsnip.
