The Phantom
Looks like they did do an initial test borehole at 10m to bedrock. The first two pilings have gone in at 12m to hit bedrock. That's not too bad and relatively close. The test holes for the dolphins are also at 13m. However two more holes have been at 15m & 17m. That's a significant difference from 10 - 17m. It about the height of an average house. Seems their test hole must have hit some sort of peak and the last two holes are in a serious trough. It's pretty weird though having such variances over such a small area and the one test hole being the shallowest of all. The whole mooring/drilling area is only about 50 sq m. Albert Tatlock
Just now, Gladys said: Yes, but look at the rock structures around that area, pretty craggy. I'm beginning to think we live on Craggy Island, given some of the comedians government seem to employ. The costs seem to just go on, go on, go on, go on, go on... ...go on. 4

They've either been working off out-of-date surveys or they didn't bother to do a couple of runs along that area with geophys. Geophys is clever stuff these days. CallMeCurious
Might have been cheaper to buy a smaller boat in the end. You know one that would have worked in the harbours as they were. Funny how technology can find oil and gas hundreds of meters below the sea bed in the middle of an ocean but couldn't find voids in a harbour within a few metres of a harbour wall?

Maybe they didn't take the tidal variation into account 🤣
