Its more a planning/traffic issue as far as I know. Apparently it can be used in an emergency for Fright and the now boat can dock there if required. In a memorandum to Tynwald members, the DOI said the new building would "be able to accommodate up to a maximum of 1,000 passengers and 200 checked-in vehicles and winter weekend freight, with emergency backup freight provision should Heysham Port become inaccessible". The limits/prohibition on freight is a condition as part of the planning approval. It's apparently so it won't disturb residents of the neighbouring apartment buildings. Now you are telling me what I just told you.👍 Makes it even less likely that we could share with Irish Ferries though.

I don't follow. I'm going back to sleep.

However it's possible that the structure might have been reinforced from the inside. I'm not an expert but i understand pressure grouting can be used in situations like this. The cracks may now be superficial.

The link span will sit between two parts of the dock wall where there used to be a lock gate entrance to the Half Tide basin.
