2112
IOMG are excelling themselves with their dickwaving. Press release published on Facebook, of the start of works for the new linkspan. Accompanying the pictures are a top trumps statistics of the depth, width etc of the linkspan and the excavations etc. Why oh Why? I and others couldn’t give a shit, just build it and let’s use the facility. No doubt the next pictures will be CM Cannan and Minister of DOI Chris Thomas holding the CMs hand inspecting the linkspan.

Omobono
you are wrong , a cafe or mega Chinese would make money with that fabulous waterfront outlook , what do you think is going to happen to it between and of October and April , when there are practically no sailings and you cant use it for freight anyway Steam packet or isle of man government should be looking for someone to partner with now, don't forget there will only be passengers waiting for the ferry for a couple of hours before the sailing and the ones with cars and vans usually stay with the vehicle ,and on arrival from Douglas foot passengers only passing through in a few minutes , so there should be lots of commercial opportunities to generate some rent to help with the massive loan charges , just requires someone in government to get off their backside are realise the rest of the world does not owe them a living

Maybe art, crafts exhibitions etc. Should be a pretty good space for all that money. Worth a shot I would imagine unless our Scouse mates have put convenants or restrictions on the sort of thing ,and the times,it can be used for. I know people who go to Costa in the Sea Terminal who are not setting foot on the boat. This supposedly clever retort has surely run its course by now There are many in government who stood to make things better and in the interests of the populace, and far from sitting on their backsides are working bloody hard to make it so. Fortunately they know that such twatty remarks are part of the territory and although they may jar they can brush them aside. They don’t always, and never will always get it right. To use another overused response. If you think you can do better have a go yourself

One Tynwald member can not make things better they don't have the power or the influence. Which is why we never have any change; and they get conned into things like this landing stage. It was and is a huge waste of taxpayers cash. The trouble is when they make mistakes like this it takes funds away from others areas that truly need it. They need to spend more time considering things; meeting constituents; business owners; the unions; and not flouncing round Departments or at secret briefings where their critical thinking goes out the window and they are magically turned into mute bobbleheads when the debates happen.

Yes I’m talking about MHK’s who have stood for election. When you are saying that one MHK can’t make things better is it because you believe it is because of the lack of party politics here? There are other mechanisms. Re the landing stage. Yes it does at this time look like a great cock up. But so did the Millenium Dome when it was created but look at it now. Who knows? I think your charge of not considering more other things, meeting constituents, business owners, the unions etc is grossly unfair. MHK’s hold constituency meetings, they do meet with such parties as business owners and trade union leaders. . And they also are agreeable to going on the Mannin Line etc to listen to and debate peoples concern. The recent North West plan for the Island with printed leaflets, physical meetings, and Webinars etc is another example of how they engage with the public. So it’s not all flouncing around and secret meetings.

Are you suggesting that anyone popping in for an Espresso in Costa in the Sea Terminal should be press ganged into becoming a passenger on the next IOMSPCO sailing? I spent my working life in business.
