The whole reason for the reinforcement, at great expense, of the quay wall was because of the scour of the powerful side thrusters being fitted to Manxman.

And no, the 2023/4 winter timetable isn't out. But if they don't schedule Liverpool winter weekend sailings that leaves the new terminal and link span unused for 5 months a year.

I'm confident that it will sail to Liverpool on weekends just like it used to sail to Birkenhead. I'm sure I have read that it will but I can't find it.

We are not going to get away with 80 million. Not heard anything for months about costings etc. Deliberate or have I missed something. In this case with DOI involved no news is definitely not good news.

Think I saw the CM being quoted at the 'One Plan' conference something along the lines of 'the GMP want it & it has to be paid for'

He justified it on the grounds that there had been some sort of consultation and people still wanted some sort of sea link to Liverpool.  Ignoring the fact that no price was quoted when the offer was made and a low price was being quoted of £3 million or whatever for the new facility.

Frankly I think good financial control went out of the window when he was Treasury Minister, but I'm only an uninformed bystander

Good financial control went out the window when Allan Bell was TM and every pair of hands since have failed to catch the baton.

Fiscal competence has been replaced by endless bullshit, excuses and Teflon shoulders.

What, with Alan & Eddie's austerity programme?

They just chose to spend as little as possible on anything other than the institution of Tynwald and the massive edifice of government

Doing away with higher education grants in order to preserve grants for farmers was the nadir of that administration
