No. There are lots of harbours and ferry ports around the coast of the British Isles which couldn’t even take the Ben. Its the final drive system, which isn’t directly related to length.

Exactly that and everytime we need parts the trousers will be dropped as more costly bespoke gearbox parts need to be manufactured. Didn’t they say the same about “the Cabbage”? A train that had to have spares shipped from the USA as nobody this side of the Atlantic could supply any kit?

So during the warranty period if it needs to go out of service again it'll be sailing back to the shipyard in South Korea? Can't see the shipyard flying guys over with kit at their own expense. Hopefully, they've got a maintenance contract in place with a UK firm once the warranty runs out. Or will we see the headline in June 2024 "Manxman out of action three weeks waiting for parts"

TheTeapot
Where has the 'bespoke' engine story come from? They're using a pretty well known and well regarded engine, might be the most efficient one about. I thought that was well known?

Makes something sound extra special. There's a reason the world moved away from bespoke, to mass common manufacturing. Hopefully it's a fairly standard engine / gearbox that they have just bolted something special to, so they can say it's 'bespoke'.
