Police custody block. On time and under budget.

Needed riding like Shergar though. Lots of ‘givens’ like design fees were able to be binned as the suppliers did it all in house.

I like to think that piece of work cancelled out the nonsense that was Lord St Police Station...

Yeah, the leaking roof, the idiosyncratic and uncontrollable heating and ventilation, the noise issues, the sound proofing issues, the layout that restricts entry or movement when someone is at the desk,

The steam packet are saying their design idea was rejected (more expensive but would have solved the scour problem) the engineers are expensive and rubbish, so new engineers have been engaged, and the steam packed wasn’t consulted  weren’t consulted on thrust of the mannanan.  And that what tim baker said in Tynwald differs from their recollection of events.

25 year warranty so hopefully facilities are on top of it. Not sure about the soundproofing issues? Don’t recall those. And entry and movement control is in place in every custody block in the British Isles. It’s not a layout issues but one of management.

The heating and ventilation continues to be a serious issue. Detainees commonly have to be moved from cell to cell.

Leaks are dealt with by buckets.

You can stand at the desk in custody snd hear every word being spoken by the FME in the medical consultation room.

Oh, and it was designed and executed without level/disabled access.

Disappointed to hear the ventilation still unresolved. That was flagged up very early. And the soundproofing for the medical room should be easily resolved. It’s an insulated wall retrofit.

as for the disabled access, this is an issue because it was actually designed to have it. The station side was meant to have a compliant ramp. After I moved to OSG completion was handed over to facilities and all sort of odd things started to happen!

Keep pestering for that. It’s not right.

It’s ok. I enter by the side gate. I’ve persuaded installation of a dropped kerb inside the compound. But the side gate failed recently.

If anyone parks overhanging the footpath leading to the gate ( and they do ) then it’s blocked at the outside, as well.

I think the sound proofing is the door. Doesn’t instil confidence for confidentiality in advising clients.

Mr Baker is clearly being called out but is he in turn merely regurgitating what he's been happily fed by his officers? It will be interesting to see what his response is and where this goes from here, the SPCo, being an arm's length Govt operation, clearly possesses its own thoughts and opinions and may not be easily silenced.

What with the covid report too, I detect the beginnings of a conflict...

Maybe its by design, blame the door so you don't even consider the possibility of hidden microphones.
