Flybe nosedives on profits warning

There may be no other option than a Govt run set up. If we haven't got the numbers to make a private sector business case stack up then nobody from that sector is going to want to do it.

If we want reliable airlinks on our terms and demanded/expected routes and times with our available numbers (read, "expensive equation") then we either pay through the nose for the privilege via a private operator or we do it ourselves via Govt. Which will invariably be expensive too. Cos it's our Govt, firstly.....which is one scary thought.

If it's what we want to have then prepare to dig deep. It's the competence bit that's worrying.

To set up, not to run.

Hmm yes,  apologies for going off topic.

So how much would it be to run in ops costs?

How much is a wet lease for a dash8?

Do augriny run 2 x atr? And make £8m losses currently?

They have around 8 aircraft, including a Jet,

From a very credible source.

Credible maybe. But a reliable source would never have shared this.

There is no good case for running a govt air service. It's a dumb idea. If it cannot be run for profit then it should not happen. And if it can be run for profit then govt does not need to be involved.

Wet leasing is when someone provides the aircraft and crew. The plan would be to lease the base aircraft. Set up with the other elements required and then get on with it.

But it needs to be run by people that actually know what they are doing.

The three routes plan could apparently be run profitability. It was all the other stuff that dragged Flybe down.

keep it small, realistic, professional and focused.
