Fruit And Veg

Scuse my possible ignorance.....  If it lasts longer, its been tampered with?  GM or chemicals.. therefore being not realy organic

Not necessarily. It depends on how it was shipped here and how long it's kept out the back. When I have bought stuff from tescos I have noted many times that they have chilled the food for a long time and I have never had any fruit or veg last longer than 3 days. However M&S lasts about 5-6 days, now whether they get more deliveries or they don't chill the food, therefore it doesn't go off quicker I don't know, but if it says it's organic, then it can't have been tampered with GM or chemicals as you say.

Hi

Can anyone advise where the freshest organic fruit and veg is available from

Many thanks

i'm going Veggie so any help appreciated

If your going veggie dont go organic, organic veg always has little bugs on it and you can never get rid of them all especialy in broccoli.

if you've got a car you could go out down south and buy it straight from the ground. Theres an organic farmer called Mr Moore, can't remember the name of the farm but on the way to port st mary just before you reach the straight road coming up to the Shore hotel, you'll see it on the left hand side of the road with a tiny green and white sign next to the farm gate.

just an observation on M&S

the 'sell-by' date is never very far ahead,

(maybe that's to make sure it's fresh,

or maybe it's just just been in the warehouse a long time

before coming out ?, who knows, maybe if they explained it

people would know why it is !)

There's also a farm shop at Ballaleece bridge, St. Johns,

and is there one at the top of the whitebridge, Onchan ?

(or is that just PYO fruit in season ?)

Bloke on the quay in Ramsey does superb local produce too. We go up there every sat morning even though we live in Onchan.

You go all the way to Ramsey from Onchan. Do you take a pack lunch or do you just get some passssttttieee from the swimming pool cafe while your there.
