The main oddity surely is that it can only be prescribed as a private prescription. If it's deemed medically useful enough to be allowed as a treatment, surely it should be available to all, not just those who can afford a private consultation?
2bees
How’s that going to work with the drug driving detection wipes? How is someone on weed (4 days after they had a joint) any different to someone who had medical weed? 4 days!!! The copper on the telly said “You are still on cannabis for 4 days after taking it!”, it’s been a while since I was on that scene & I’ve heard of super skunk but four days??? F’ me, that’s some smoke.
TheTeapot
Medical cannabis is mostly bollocks. It makes you feel better of course, that's the point, but it's not going to cure you of anything.

Yeah, but unfortunately thats not how capitalism works.
Kopek
A short time ago it was stated that no one on the Island could prescribe the drug, you would have to go away for a prescription! That may change, maybe you need a specialist clinic to assess your need?

Starship Enterprise will likely spunk a load of money on marketing this to show how forward looking etc we are. But, no one will give you a prescription for it. 1

The application for a prescription can be made in the UK but some clinics will not process Islanders because our laws are not in line with the UK and after speaking to one clinic the costs are probably prohibitive for most prospectives. There aren't any plans to open an on-island facility for guidance and assessment. A friend of mine contacted Hooper asking what was in place for those seeking treatment and were there plans to set up a clinic here and basically, his one word reply was, "nope." Nothing more. Yet another half-assed token gesture... Edited June 1, 2022 by quilp

Frankly if you need it, then get gardening. This Govt is never going to help unless they can figure out a way to make money out of it.

This is what the Government of Canada / Health Canada says on this matter (2018 version): https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/hc-sc/documents/services/drugs-medication/cannabis/information-medical-practitioners/information-health-care-professionals-cannabis-cannabinoids-eng.pdf Is this authoritative and informative enough to say it is medicine? You have been lied to by those who wish to prevent it competing with Big Pharma/paper/textiles/oil/US police and private prisons. Lots of people think they are going to make lots of money from this. quilp
Cultivation for personal use, 4 plants say, at any one time and a small licence fee to keep the androids happy would be the least they could/should pass legislation for. A 4 plant rotation is an adequate number to cultivate for a sustained, individual supply for a year. The whole process, from initial germination to the finished product is a very holistic experience. So I'm told... Edited June 1, 2022 by quilp 2 2

Agreed, though there are many deluded individuals who would defiantly disagree and present outlandish research from some mad scientist or other claiming it's a cure for everything. Further research may prove otherwise in time, using all the available cannabinoids. The science and research is relatively new and ongoing but with MS, Epilepsy, CRPS and other disorders its effectiveness is well known. It's greatest effective-use is in a palliative role, the analgesic and anti inflammatory effects are accepted. The Israeli medical labs are experimenting with, and producing new strains which are massively potent even compared the most rare, stronger strains available now, commercially. Stronger still than Johnny Depp's Purple Unicorn ☺️
