Certainly not by voting for that idiot Corbyn. I think we just have to continue to pressure MHKs or MPs at the local level and make clear our views. They tend to conduct themselves according to whomever they think is the loudest or might have the most impact on their next election results. That's one of the reasons it's so important to speak out against that idiotic "pro-life" group. That's just the sort of loud mouthed lobby group that would otherwise have a major influence, if not counter-balanced by a sensible counter group.

Like the DUP perchance?

It's not about where the money is going. It's more about where the money is NOT going.

With so many folks in a really shit state how they can countenance what will undoubtedly be a money-pit called HST?

Because the rest can go hang, that's how......

HS2. HST was 1975.

And yes. It is totally about where the money is going because that is why it's not going where it should go. HS2 is a good investment by the way. Would you have the UK as the only country in Europe without national high speed railways?

I would put people before prestige any day of the week.

The "prestige" of the UK with Brexit looming. What a sick joke that is....

Oh, for goodness sake. UK recovers its sovereignty. Rejoice!! You've been listening to the BBC and reading the Guardian too much, PK.

Nothing to do with prestige. Modern transport is essential to a vibrant economy, which is essential to successful enterprise, which is successful to well funded public services. Fall down on one element and the whole thing grinds to a halt.

It is better to run your own affairs than have another outside organisation run them for you. Wasn't this the whole principle behind decolanisation?

Not really! I lived in Hong Kong which was a colony and yet it was very self governing.

And let us not forget that the UK was up to its neck in creating both the EU and Single Market and which are very recent creations..  The UK was not a European colony.. It joined up voluntarily and then went on to change and direct things...

Slightly off track but even the Council of Europe was created in London in 1949..

"The violence of austerity"

I've never heard such a good bollocks based socialist, 'spend everyone elses money, on sorting out my problems and lack of effort' argument than that for quite a while.

It does have something of the feel of a Momentum soundbite about it. And let's face it, some of those folks know plenty about violence.
