pongo
Quote the protestants seem to think it's all ok because they've a personal line to God. This is one of my pet peeves.

All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy, and all great things from one in which they were small. Therefore the sage, while he never does what is great, is able on that account to accomplish the greatest things. He who lightly promises is sure to keep but little faith; he who is continually thinking things easy is sure to find them difficult. Therefore the sage sees difficulty even in what seems easy, and so never has any difficulties Daodejing Chapter 63, Translated by Legge "All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy" We call that "shit happens" - because it does..... The acceptable face of liberal nutterdom. “Liberals see the world exactly as it is.” Actually, liberals relate to the world exactly as they’d like it to be, and not as it is. That's the problem in a nutshell. Interesting you would come out with an opinion like the above after voicing support for Nick "Turncoat" Cleggy claiming he did the only thing he could do in the circs - form a coalition with the tories. Liberal values are far nearer to the strivings of The Labour Party than they ever would be to the tories so like hundreds of others I cut my card up and sent it back in protest i.e. Cleggy you gave my vote to "call me Dave", Gideon and the other 14 millionaires on their front bench without my permission. And don't bother trying to label Corbyn et al "socialists" as that hackneyed description hasn't been valid for years and years......
woolley
"Support" for Clegg is putting it a bit strong. I just said he did the only thing he could do in the circumstances. He then played his hand badly by taking the blame for tuition fees etc.

He actually had an opportunity to make a difference and he blew it. Twat One thing about us liberals is that we are more than happy to sit down with those of "other persuations" shall we say to share things like viewpoints, experiences and rationale. Especially different polarities like you, me and Mr Quilp perhaps? But, of course, neither of you are liberal enough to let that happen. Far too dangerous..... quilp
Come on PK, seriously, what are you suggesting here? Not liberal enough to engage with you on "viewpoints, experiences and rationale"..? "far too dangerous"..? For whom, and in what context?

Yes, the pig got up and slowly walked away. That's not a nice thing to say about Lonan3, Stu, Rhumsaa, Gladys, Cheeky Boy, the lovely Mrs Bees and so forth. Strange but true both myself and the missus have worked extensively on Mannin, mostly with gov and what an instantly forgettable career experience it was, but never at the same time. So both of us being there together, dining out and so forth, will be a very new experience. Got to be careful that she doesn't cause a scene by fainting with boredom.... woolley
Obviously you made sense of that gibberish, Quilp. I haven't got the foggiest idea what he's on about. Looks like he's been on the Vino de Frigliana to me. At least he won't be worrying about stuff, so it's all good.
