Any update from the NCA or the employment tribunal??

As discussed a few pages back (pun not intended) the tribunal case vanished from the schedules in April and hasn't be seen since.  Presumably some resolution was achieved.

Interesting that 30 years ago the rich were admired (generally), now it’s a bit rude to be rich. But in this case with the scandal I get it. It’s more a general point.

Nobody admired Marsland in his Rolls fucking Royce

And not long after it disappeared Page announced he had a new job.

This might be worth another thread, but our little island is associated with another PPE scandal, with the case already lost in the US (appeal failed) and stories of the company owner having 'done a runner', assets in the Isle of Man frozen and a big old house in Port Soderick abandoned and now up for sale.

Gef ran with this, and the newspaper covered it briefly, but little else.  Then again, the owner always stayed close to government...

Looks like there is a related case in front of the Isle of Man Courts as well. See;

Disclosure Judgment 15.05.24.pdf (judgments.im)

None of these things do the Island's reputation any good. We seem to attract charlatans from around the world!!

How does someone drive ‘like they own the place’ ? Or was it just she was in a posh car?

I'm sure you know that the poster wasn't referring to her driving. It's a commonly used idiom indicating, in the speakers opinion, that a person gives the impression that they are more important than other people, can behave as they like, or has a right to tell other people what to do, or is entitled to preferential treatment.

Driving a car that costs the best part of £400k is probably somewhere on the ostentatious scale and would merit the use of that idiom. Especially given that it was possibly paid for by UK tax payers money she conned out of a bunch of weak arse politicians for a load of PPE that is still sitting in a warehouse because it was useless.

The British, and especially the Manx, and notoriously intolerant of showy displays of wealth.

If you’re sure that I know that why did you comment and reply?

My post wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.  Ironically I’m in central London today and have seen several RRs, Ferraris, Lambos, and even a Bugatti Veron - and none of them drove like they owned the place.

driving around town is a totally ridiculous Rolls Royce Cullinan (a ludicrous vehicle) like she owned the place.

If you own the place it’s your chauffeur who drives

To be fair it’s Dougs overgrown £300K London Taxi she swans around in. It really is offensively ostentatious for the IOM. It’s like you can’t afford to live in Knightsbridge or Chelsea but you can drive around Douglas trying to find free parking spaces that are 5 feet too small for your ridiculous car.

Correct.

Unless it’s the “woody” shooting brake, or the Mk1 Defender,  and you’re wearing your grandparents leather patched tweeds.

And an impossibly long scarf.
