Anthony Page, PPE Medpro director and 100% registered shareholder when the Government paid £203m for the VIP lane contracts, left and is taking Doug Barrowman’s firm Knox to an employment tribunal in the Isle of Man;

Just been listed for hearing, 29 April to 1 May.

Honestly not sure if he left of his own accord due to the PPE debacle, or whether Doug forced him out.

Whichever, Page scored a big property purchase shortly after the Pandemic and he's unlikely to work in the industry again.

It'll be one to get the popcorn out for sure.

Does anyone think this tribunal will go ahead, personally I doubt it, money talks, however it also pays for silence.

That's what you'd think, but Barrowman has form for fighting these things to the bitter end at employment tribunals.  The Sutton case went on for years and there was the more recent case with the housekeeper.  One thing we have had reinforced recently is that paying things off quietly is not these people's way of operating.  If they think they can hold on to the money they will.  And of course trying to win by exhausting the applicants financial, time and emotional resources is a common tactic among some employers, just ask Rosalind Ranson.

The only thing that surprised me is that just three days were set aside for the tribunal.  But it turns out that's just the 'preliminary' hearing.

I'd increase the popcorn order.

I thought there was another local director involved. Is that just the usual CSP business of making up the number of directors for companies? They won't face charges though, or should they?

Oh okay but they should be okay right? They haven't done anything wrong? I'm not really sure how it all works.

Yeah as noted, Voirrey, but she seems to have somehow stayed relatively out of the limelight on this.

Tricky one on responsibility.  Realistically they have to do what the shareholders tell them, otherwise they could be fired.  However, as a 'CSP Director' they do always have the option to say they don't want to be appointed as a Director or just quit if something looks sketchy.  However I suspect doing this would earn them a quick escort to the door at Knox.  As I mentioned, it definitely paid for a nice big new house for Paige.  It will all really come down to whether they knew (or suspected) that Mone had abused her position or the PPE wasn't up to scratch, which on balance, I'd probably say they didn't.  That's not to say they won't be sacrificed on the altar of the FSA though.

That’s an option but in most similar situations I’ve seen in single shareholder CSPs run by people similar to Doug in reality a lot of pressure is put on people as part of their job to undertake those roles and the only option is that is you won’t do it then you’re leaving. I’ve left a role on one occasion for exactly that reason. I said no way would I touch that with a barge pole and because of that it was going to come to an end anyway so may as well take control and get another job. There are far too many shadow controllers in the IOM finance sector who get away with it for years without assuming any real risk themselves and just use employed directors as human shields.

Luckily for them Doug doesn't really stay in the shadows too much. Those turkey teeth would be a give-away.

Interestingly Voirrey Coole resigned the last of the UK directorships she held yesterday.  Which suggests she was still employed by the Knox Group.  At least till yesterday.

Oh well it seems she left the 'Company' (PPE Medro) back in 2022, but she is Managing Director of Knox according to linkedin, so still part of the group.

The Medpro structure as laid out though is pure shadow control using employed directors and even giving one a 1% profit share in the structure for taking the risk. Then it all filters out to other arms length trusts and structures not owned by Barrowman but certainly controlled by him through other employees or service providers.
