There is no right and wrong, there is just what is.
It sucks for the kid, mother had responsibility and fucked it up. No different from stories all over the world. They didn't intentionally target the kid, it just happens. It is what it is.

That is just a shit poor justification for, mostly American, non thinking that  justification of the end justifies the means. And the ends, are political.

Innocent 12 year old? Come on.

Massive failure here.

You need to commission a study into how your brain works.

Expect to pay a fortune.

You are justifying the death of a 12 year old?

Justifying it? No, just logically thinking about something that could have been prevented had the mother not taken it to war knowing that this was a risk.

If the kid had been shot by opposing forces would that have been better for you? Perhaps tortured? Turned into an involuntary suicide bomber? Because that is what happens out there every single day.

Or is it just because it was a Western bomb that did it? Why is this any different to bombs dropped that killed human shields all the time?

So...your ex-wife goes nuts, takes your kids to Syria for a fortnight. Yanks kill them because they were there. You ok with that?

They weren't "just there" for a fortnight at Middle Eastern Butlins. She was fighting/fucking and he was being trained for a substantial period of time. I would thoroughly expect them to die out there.

Let's use a similar analogy with a few differences. Your wife/kid whatever has been kidnapped by ISIS, and they threaten to execute her, publishing videos of her making statements with a knife to her throat. During a rescue mission by US soldiers, a US grenade goes off and kills your wife and kid. Who do you blame?

Would you have preferred for the rescue mission not to have taken place, and then your wife and child were beheaded on camera for the world to see? Of course not, you would want the chance at life.

She fucked up repeatedly, dragged her child into a war, and got them both killed. It's entirely her fault.

British IS recruiter Sally-Anne Jones 'killed by drone' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41593659

If they have 'legitimately'  killed a 12 year old, travelling with his mother...there is, indeed, something wrong with the world.

Everyone is entitled to a fair trial. An innocent 12 year old child is entitled to a rethink of the whole system.

Collateral damage. Get over it.

Totally agree.

12 years old? Touring the world with a nutty mother? Wise up.

What right takes his life?

Ok Albert, the assumption of his innocence and victimhood is one thing but up till now, is not fact. As has been said before, kids are radicalised by IS and carry out abhorrent attacks. Are child soldiers, used in Africa (Beasts of No Nation) and elsewhere, innocent also?

Did the drone pilot know the kid was present?

What's the age of assumed criminal responsibility in the UK/IoM? Used to be 10, would it then be logical to assume a 12-year-old would know the difference between right and wrong? Come to think of it, was he not thought to be featured in an IS propaganda video executing a kneeling Syrian army prisoner?

Will the IS press release describe them both as 'martyrs'?

The Russian army, fighting its way into Berlin encountered extreme fanaticism and bravery from some nazi kids as young as 14 (Godwin's, just for tarne). Brainwashed by another loathsome ideology.

If he was innocent, then it's another incident of unfortunate collateral damage.

Not sure I'd compare ISIS kids with the German kids at the end of WW2. The German kids were at least genuinely fighting to defend their country from Soviet invasion. ISIS are just outright terrorist scum, not defending any homeland.

Think about the Caliphate IS considered its 'homeland', its remit was islamist expansionism. An 'islamic state' was, for a time, a reality.
