She was the daughter of a senior al Qaeda financier and friend of Osama bin Laden. They divorced in 2010. Officials have dismissed any link between his previous marriage and the family's capture, with one official describing it in 2014 as a "horrible coincidence." A former Canadian senior intelligence officer stated that Caitlan and Josh are just "Innocents" and "Harmless hippies". Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. mojomonkey
Wouldn't have been my first choice of holiday destination. Sad, I understand it is actually a beautiful country and it would be wonderful to see it, but it obviously isn't safe or sensible to do so. I found more information from people who actually knew them on the thread above - basically everyone agrees that whilst she was always very gullible and naive, opinion is a lot more negative on him - many signs pointing to him being a collaborator. llap
It's pretty obvious this guy is dodgy and was up to no good. Anyone who believes their story about hiking is simple in the head. The fact he refused to board the US plane because he was afraid of being sent to Guantanamo Bay ought to be a big raging clue.
