Thing in America is the genie is out of the bottle so to speak. In some states like in Alabama and many others they train them to shoot automatic weapons from pre adolescence. It will not change as it’s in their DNA - the right to bear arms. I go to America a lot and everyone seems to have a gun. It’s also not difficult to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. So never get into a rammy with a yank. Chances are they have a gun and the more pissed ( pissed in America has a different meaning from here ) they are the more likely they’ll shoot you and claim self defence.

Maybe they should arm bears. Give them a fighting chance. The bears that is.

A very sick society.

You can say that again.

In the U.S., 15 people — including Barbee — have been executed by lethal injection in 2022 and two more are scheduled for Thursday.

ah okay. I thought that maybe they had brutally murdered or raped (or both) some innocent victim...

Maybe. In one case the sentence was passed 40 years ago, the guilty party being 76 when they finally killed him.

Whatever you think about the rights or wrongs of state executions, the way they do it in the US is just ridiculous.

Colorado

A gunman opened fire inside a gay club in the US state of Colorado on Saturday night, killing five people and injuring 18.

A suspect was in custody and being treated for injuries, police said.

Club Q, in Colorado Springs, released a statement on Facebook saying it was "devastated by the senseless attack on our community", and thanking customers who "subdued" the gunman.

There was an execution planned for last week in ? Colorado but they couldn't get a second IV line in whitin the designated time frame (there are set rules about how long an inmate has to be killed in and it has to be before midnight I think) so they have had to postpone it as they had run out of time.

His fellow inmate who was aiso convicted in the same crime and was executed several years ago.

What a great democracy.

And this is about as ridiculous as it gets. "Why do we only execute broken people" is apt.

Beverley Guenther was kidnapped, raped, tortured, mutilated and stabbed multiple times and finally strangled to death by that monster, the gruesome details are online if you're curious. It was the heinous, calculated and premeditated murder of a woman who must've endured unimaginable fear, pain and prolonged death. Bleeding out whilst being strangled. Generally takes around 5 minutes to effectively strangle the life out of someone. A senseless waste of life. The article doesn't really touch on the aftermath and life-long effect on the victim's family and friends. Which is probably deliberate, given the obvious bias of that source.

From the comments section of that article...
