I guess this time no black legislators in Kentucky will take part in any anti gun protests or else they will get kicked out!

At least four people have been killed in a mass shooting at a 16th birthday party in the US state of Alabama.

Twenty-eight people were injured, some critically, after shots were fired at the Mahogany Masterpiece Dance Studio in the city of Dadeville on Saturday.

High school senior Phil Dowdell, a star athlete, has been named by local media as one of the victims.

President Joe Biden renewed his calls for tougher gun laws after the incident.

Pastor Ben Hayes, who serves as the chaplain for the Dadeville Police Department and for the local high school football team, said most of the victims were teenagers.

Two teenagers arrested.

Police said the suspect, 24-year-old Robert Louis Singletary, remains at large.

Mr Singletary faces four counts of first-degree attempted murder.

Police have also charged the suspect with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The suspect was previously known to police for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend with a sledgehammer in December.

Texas

Police in Texas say they believe a man killed five of his neighbours after an argument about him doing practice shooting with a semi-automatic weapon nearby.

The victims were all from Honduras, and included an eight-year-old child.

The incident occurred late on Friday night in the small town of Cleveland, San Jacinto County, Texas.

Among those killed were two women found lying on top of two surviving children, according to local Sheriff Greg Capers.

The suspect, believed to be Mexican, has been named as Francisco Oropez. He is still on the run and thought to be armed.

Interesting to see that after two back to back gun massacres, Serbia is going to crack down massively on gun ownership and significant buy-backs of weapons have been announced.  NZ did something similar after their own massacre.  However NZ hadn't had a fairly major war there within the last 20 years.  Surely there are going to be ALOT of guns floating around in Serbia following that.

Texas

A gunman has shot and killed eight people shopping at a mall north of Dallas, Texas, emergency services say.

Hundreds of people were evacuated from the mall in the city of Allen, as eyewitnesses described a man firing indiscriminately at passers-by.

Police said they shot the gunman dead and believe he acted alone.

A three-year-old boy and his parents, two elementary school children and a young engineer from India have been named as victims of a shooting attack in Texas on Saturday.

James Cho died alongside his parents Cho Kyu Song, 37, and Kang Shin Young, 35, according to reports. His six-year-old brother was injured but survived.

The identifications comes as officials probe whether the killer had links to any far-right organisations or beliefs.

Several victims remain in hospital.

Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said seven people - including the gunman - were pronounced dead at the scene and two died later in hospital.

A police officer "heard gunshots, went to the gunshots, engaged the suspect and neutralised the suspect", Allen Police Chief Brian Harvey said.

The victims' ages range from 5 to 51, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Most adults aged 21 or over in Texas are allowed to carry a handgun without a licence, unless they have a previous conviction. In addition, there are few restrictions on possession of rifles and shotguns. Republicans control the Texas state legislature.

In the US so far this year there have been at least 198 mass shootings in which four or more people were killed or wounded

It took five hours for the police department to issue a statement.

Marjorie Taylor Green was quicker to say this was all down to mental health Issues.

No doubt Ted Cruz will be along soon to say there were too many doors in the Mall.

Greg Abott has had nothing to say so far - but then - it's been a busy week for him and guns. No doubt he will be sending thoughts and prayers very soon.

We're currently on day 127 of 2023 so there have been 71 more mass shootings in the US than days so far this year.

I'm grateful to live in a place where I don't have to worry if anyone I walk past is packing a gun and ready to start shooting, and where children don't have to practice active shooter drills at school. The US has gone mental.
