hissingsid
Now Summerland should be turned into a multi story car park with decent sized spaces now that cars are getting bigger, and wider. The little shuttle buses that Bus Vannin have could run up and down the promenade or we could all get fitter by walking, cycling or skating to work along the walkway. Sorted.

There seems to be quite a few wealthy people doing some developments around the island just now, they must know something? The Sefton Group have to cough up on the government loan shortly, that could stir the pot there too, particularly with the Castle Mona sale going through? Could something be earmarked for the Middlemarch plot? Add the refurbished Mount Murray to the mix, we will have a better hotel offer than we have for years. Think of all those empty rooms. There will be some decent last minute deals for impressing your mistress once it all comes online.
Donald Trumps
Not all these hotels can survive The island just can't attract enough visitors to fill them all
finlo
Work appears to have started on doubling the size of the Ramsey Park hotel also.

Man in the pub told me its all going to be converted to a heliport for the types that are buying the houses at the old Grand Island plot.

I'm not surprised... it's the only 'hotel' in Ramsey to speak of (as far as I know). There are B&Bs etc but clearly, there's a market for another mid-size hotel. Derek Flint
Ramsey Park Hotel will got to 60 rooms and have a much needed function room as well. They are building apartments (for sale) next door too, along with redeveloping the GI site. If we could just persuade Mr Hemmings to redevelop the old Barry Curran site (which he owns), it might further catalyse the town by a much needed quayside improvement.

Sorted. wait, you came up with that eminently sensible idea, using just your common sense and didn't command a six figure consultancy fee? Well done that sid.!!

I didn't know Trevor owned that site. You are correct in saying it should be developed ASAP, as it is a massive blot on the quayside ( along with 3 or 4 more properties). I think Ramsey is on the up ( especially the shopping areas) and sites like BC's are holding back even more improvement . If no movement, why not compulsory purchase it.( RTC or IOM Gov.)

What does the town gain from the campervans.? Serious question.

How much is a permit, if anything? It's popular though, always busy during the season, with free water and sewage disposal facilities. So it brings people to the town and they're certainly not all Manx registered either. Where else could they go? And the sprint is HQ'd in that area along with the trade stalls. I'm led to believe that it's at least partly RTC themselves who are pushing for this, despite there already being a sports hall at RGS. They must be projecting to be awash with money from the new rates rise?
