You mean as opposed to a tiny island in the Irish Sea which is locked in the 80's? You said free movement, I should "an example" of that movement being impeded. It will go some way to stopping illegals coming in by boat. Or do you think that problem doesn't exist as far as the UK is concerned? The link below outlines the problem and that's just the ones they know/don't know about https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/bulletins/migrationstatisticsquarterlyreport/february2018
RIchard Britten
Quick scan of that document, no where is method of entry mentioned. I am not saying that people don't enter the UK illegally by boat, but is it a big enough problem that we need to employ naval warships to prevent? Neil Down
Isn't coastal protection part of the remit of the Royal Navy. Nobody said to designate a vessel purely for that but it is just another useful option

And once we shrug off the EU yoke it will become n times worse.

RIchard Britten
Amazing how a OP about the UK Government (specifically Defence Procurement) making a massive costly balls up, and in the space of a few pages has been turned into yet another "bloody immigrants/anti-EU" rant circle jerk. The Rog jumped in with his "what ever it takes" nonsense, and they you followed with using naval warships to stop immigrants. And then it all became the EU's fault somehow.
