Entire generations were sacrificed to it - uneducated, brutalised, exiled. She became murderous and lost whatever sympathy she’d had earlier in the struggle and remains controversial. The thousand bomber raids conducted against Germany were not against an occupied nation while the French resistance were indeed freedom fighters.
