As for Powell, he was of course absolutely correct.

Prescient even.

Actually he was totally wrong. There haven't been rivers of blood. Immigrants have integrated in society and enriched our lives immeasurably.

Some have but only some.  As for enriched our lives - in a pigs eye they have, and now the situation is so awfully that the NHS is collapsing under the onslaught, schools are overcrowded and in many cases are having to employ translators, small towns, and even some not so major towns plus most of our cities are seeing bloodshed, housing is very expensive and in very short supply, our benefit system is being bled dry and so much more besides.

I wonder how much more "enriching" our lives can take - not much if any at all.

Powell was absolutely right except in one respect.  He didn't go anywhere near far enough.

For some reason I always had it in my head that the speech was banned. But 50 years have passed. It can't be any worse than alf garnett surely?

"Alf Garnett" was 100% satire.

Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die:

Heinrich Himmler was a fan for similar reasons:  "Mohammed knew that most people are terribly cowardly and stupid. That is why he promised two beautiful women to every courageous warrior who dies in battle. This is the kind of language a soldier understands."

I think Churchill became rather wiser in later life. Your unattributed quotation was from an obscure piece written in the 1890s. Both Churchill and Himmler were coming from backgrounds of deep prejudice, of course.

As for Enoch Powell, he was educated and erudite, but racist to his core.  'Grinning piccaninies' is the phrase I remember best from the speech, because it revealed his deeply ingrained racial views. The kind of person who holds up 'Rivers of Blood" as some sort of prophetic text will not do so without sharing Powell's prejudices. They invariably want it to be true because they are seeking validation of their deeply ingrained racialism.

They are true.

The only problem is that what Churchill wrote didn't go anywhere near far enough

This all just seems like attention seeking to me. Trying to get a reaction. What these threads really need is another poster to turn up and paint you as a liberal.

Let's take them one by one.

The Nazi party were Nationalist Socialists.  The clue is in the name -  Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. Fascist certainly, but Right Wing, no.

Powell? He was correct.  Just look around at what is taking place.

Churchill not going far enough?  He didn't because he has not writing with the benefit of seeing the results of the Islam influx of our nation. The establishing of self sealing Muslim colonies here and what is now taking place.
