But the professionals have made the right decision, which has been held up in multiple courts.

Being a parent is not an automatic "I'm right" when it comes to children.

This isn't a 'right' or 'wrong' argument, it's about who has the authority to make that decision and when you enter into 'free' healthcare unfortunately the state takes that responsibility.

Don't forget this is the hospital that was responsible for the worst unauthorised organ harvesting scandal in living memory, who admitted to accepting financial donations from pharmaceutical companies in exchange for the organs of babies without consent. There are plenty of good people who work at Alder Hay and I'm sure they do wonderful things but having police forcibly prevent a baby breathing unaided to leave the building to seek treatment elsewhere only highlights the downside of socialised medicine.

I used the wrong terminology, when I said breathing unaided I meant unaided by the hospital. The oxygen he is being given has been brought in by donations as Alder Hay retracted their own supply, the parents have had to bring in their own equipment.

It is mate and it's clearly  evolving into a battle between the people and the state ,as I said earlier there is nothing but negative publicity in this for both the Courts and Alder Hey.

terrible case which ever way you look at it......

It's a case that has clearly caught the imagination of the public as anyone who uses an NHS hospital knows this could be them or a friend/family member one day. It's putting the ideology of socialised medicine squarely into focus.

I read a great article earlier today which compared the  the UK's decent  into Socialism with Cold war Eastern Europe.

The quote was that East Germany built walls to keep their people from fleeing socalism and the UK uses the Law to the same purpose .

So why have an  Air Ambulance on stand bye?

It's not an nhs air ambulance. The German aircrew were escorted out of the hospital. Read the media H, not a good idea to preach if you're not in possession of all the facts, especially on an emotive subject such as this. The child's brain is "eroded" according to the many second, third and fourth opinions of experts in the field. He does not breathe unaided and when his organs begin to shut down, beyond the point of rescue by his father's administration of mouth-to-mouth, mercifully, it should be very quick. As nature would've intended.

Not preaching to anybody  Quilp ,but we all can tell stories of instances where doctors have misdiagnosed and I'm sure you'll know more than one working where you do!

But that's not the issue , the issue is as raised by more than one on here -Who wants  best for baby Alfie his parents or the state who have already decided to put him on a death fast track!
