In this case more than anything else the end justifies the means, but also in this case those who voted for freedom would have voted for freedom without any persuasion one way or another. I don't think the fines are anything to do with the CPS. They've been imposed by the Electoral Commission. The CPS will decide if there is a criminal case to answer, assuming the police do of course.
