Bit of a (not unjustified IMHO) swipe by Mr Thomas on iomtoday re. progression on the PS Pension deficit, reminding the general public that when being pressed by Peter Karran on the subject in 2007, one A. Bell stated that no such deficit existed.

Perhaps Ramsey voters should also be reminded that they gave him another 9 years of misleading them and Tynwald after that.

This was a major feature of the 2006 General Election, Karran was not the only one to point out the pension black hole.

Trouble was once they got elected they all fell in line, same happened at the next two election.

Our MHKs are there for themselves.

He has made it clear he will not be seeking re-election so I’m not sure he is that bothered. He will end up being elevated to an MLC and top up his holiday rental and farming business with an MLCs salary for a couple of terms.

well he has his 2 terms to get his pension, why stay in??   much better to allow lots of people to do 2 terms so we can have as many ex MHK's getting paid a pension as possible.

Would you have done his job ? I definitely would not.

Thank goodness for that, you're probably more enthralled by the CS than he is!

The trouble is Quayle is just in thrall to the Civil Service.  Though he appears to be completely ignorant of the fact and believe that he is a a world statesman bestowing his wisdom on us mere mortals, while we're actually all just cringing with embarrassment.  Unfortunately for the CS his willingness to do as he's told is compromised by his inability to remember what it is.  Maybe they'd be better off with dili.

It is worrying the way he seems to be at the beck and call of the civil service.

Somehow, I don't think he will get the support to become an MLC

Anyway, we should perhaps demand MLCs directly elected on a national basis just in case
