When users consume less the cost never really goes down, standing charges will be imposed and cost per unit will increase to the revenue that MUA already receive. And of course we'd be told that the installation of the meters will not cost the user anything.... which is bollox of course.

90% of the cost of water is getting it to your property. If they instal meters, it will mean you still pay it in your rates and pay a second time for amount used.

That's right. The cost has to be covered somehow. In the IOM water is paid for depending upon rateable value which makes it a tax really. A tax which makes the better off pay more. Do we really want to change that? The losers will be the lower paid.

Yes, metered. It encourages you to use less, why bother saving water if it costs nothing extra?
