He could also be on light throttle in third as opposed to full throttle in forth labouring the motor and blowing out tons of smoke. Driven for a living most of my working life, so have a bit of an idea thanks.

Kopek
Lower gear. Not really the answer to low rev, environmentally friendly driving? Older cars will not shut off the fuel use in your instance.

Kopek
What~? Throw your bollocks out of the window to slow down? Doesn't work believe me! Women don't have the equipment to do this anyway. Ah, but they'll still have the choke on, that'll slow them down!!! ( Smiley whistling chauvinist face ).

Maybe you did not live here when the old road layout was the norm, or maybe you did not use the road very often. If you were ever to have driven any HGV up the old hill and watched the suicidlal actions of most drivers belting up the hill only to have slow to a crawl before the left hand bend at the top, you would think difer3ntly. So many bad crashes, often fatal on that corner. The reconstruction just had to be done and nobody has died since. The drainage may be shite, but then so is the driving standard of many drivers.

Kopek
Lower gear, won't happen? Drivers will just use their footbrake, just as they do at traffic lights. Dark, wet night, 10 cars with their brake lights on, 1000 watts of red lights blinding the drivers behind!!!

I do remember what the old road layout was 'dilli' , if 'they' had just put a 30 limit on it as 'they' have now the job would have been sorted IMHO. Don't disagree that there are a few suicidal drivers on this island We agree that water does run across the carriageway rather than being drained off it .
paswt
Were the chippings 'road rolled' after they were laid or did they depend on vehicles driving over them to 'stick them down'? Is it standard practice that the excess chippings are swept up and those which ended up in the road gullies are cleared? Probably daft questions
