Richmond hill

Oh, come on. As if English drivers are not used to 'Cone City' and contra flows!!! ( and speed limits).

It has been said on here that it was a  mistake to lay this tarmac in the winter, a mistake. a major own goal fot the DoI, not unusual?

Would we prefer them to lay another layer of tarmac only for our unpredictable weather to wash it down the Hilll??

Their mistake was to do it in winter, do we want them to just keep on trying until the weather holds?

Conspiracy Theory............... it was all a preconcieved prelude to introducing a  30 mph speed limit down there?

I reckon they should get the team that relaid the Tesco car park to do Richmond Hill properly. They can obviously work tarmac/asphalt without the sun having his hat on. And they're fast workers.

Have they tried channeling all the hot air from one of your phones ins? That would probably warm the road enough to let them work on it.

I do remember what the old road layout was 'dilli' , if 'they' had just put a 30 limit on it as 'they' have now the job would have been sorted IMHO.

Don't disagree that there are a few suicidal drivers on this island

We agree that water  does run across the carriageway rather than being drained off  it .

It was the corner at the top and the merging of two lines just before it that was dangerous. That corner had to go.

They could use some of your excess bile to strip down the tarmac on the prom. The work will be done in a flash...

Richmond Hill to remain 30 mph, even after the works are completed (estimated completion date 31 May; however, I note this article doesn't confirm which year...)

Not that I'm aggressively against the 30 mph limit becoming permanent, but I do wonder if it's really necessary? and if so, how has one concluded that it is necessary?

I think 3fm got hold of the wrong end of the wrong stick. They've taken down their original "news" item.

This is what DoI are actually saying

RICHMOND HILL UPDATE

The surface continues to be monitored and, as the chippings are still shedding, the 30mph speed limit will remain in place to ensure the safety of motorists and prevent damage to bodywork.

A specialist has been engaged to produce an independent assessment of the contractor’s work and their report is in the process of being compiled.

...

Any treatment is weather and temperature dependent, however, so the earliest a repair could be undertaken would be the end of April.

The Department apologises for any inconvenience and would like to thank motorists for their patience while the situation is resolved

There is no way they will reduce the road to a permanent 30.

Don,t forget where you read this.
