Only asking as I don’t know her and have only seen her in the PAC committee. A "good DOI minister" doesn't exist, nor is it likely to as long as the DOI exists in its present form. JP-W's analytical and critical attributes are best left unencumbered by an albatross around the neck like the DOI. 2

The record of the last 6 ministers of the DOI I think Gawne,Cregeen,Harmer and Baker have lost their seats Cretney and Skelly jumped to the safety of the Legislative Council. Time for Rob to step up to the plate. Edited September 26, 2021 by ellanvannin2010

Another complete hapless fool like Harmer and Baker to take the full brunt their incompetence so they don’t have to. Until the DOI is re-organised the minister is irrelevant. maybe DOT and DOE?

Rather than a representative of the people and in particular the representative of the Council of Ministers and their ideals. Tim Baker was an absolute fucking expert at this, although of course when you have such a public and obvious 24/7 example of the Department's work, that determined expertise just look silly. Problem is, if you break up the DOI into smaller units there'll be a whole new management structure required for each unit; relevant politicos, a CEO, X number of Deputy CEOs, management, the whole usual upside-down triangle multiplied by the number of new depts created. Though of course, that wouldn't be seen as a problem. 3
doc.fixit
Very true but I don't think it was the case before and the size of the current system means that the, 'leaders', are too remote from the workers and the practical, everyday needs of the public. 2112
That political colossus known as Rob Callister is getting star billing on the Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece this morning. They are drip feeding it’s subjects select juicy cuts or soundbites from a nonsensical rubber stamping exercise on Thursday 30 September 2021 Tynpotwald sitting. We have had the wisdom of Tim Glover, but it’s not a party without a Rob Callister speech. ‘Desperately hoping the borders reopen fully in time for 2022’. Desperately hope away, we could have had some cruise liner visitors but COMIN kiboshed that. We are at the mercy of the virus. Besides, as an island whose politicos who are desperately looking over their shoulders for fear of upsetting the IOMNP Facebook lobby, of which Rob Callister loves to court, some decisions will be kicked into the long grass. If visitor restrictions were fully lifted, can we be sure that Douglas Promenade will be both fully refurbished, no restrictions and fully reopened for unfettered travel? That’s a toughie - and Rob Callister sat on the Promenade Committee!
hissingsid
The DOI is unwieldy it encompasses too much and should be broken up this would make it easier to keep a handle on everything.
