Listened to the Manx Radio interview. He come across well. (No, I am not him, nor a relative or a friend etc !)

Much better than some of the other MHKs they have had on.

Cannan on Friday.

I also thought he came over fine, not very happy with the 3 who called him incompetent! Also been asked to sign a prepared resignation letter is a bit off

Nobody is ever going to be happy with anyone who says they’re incompetent. The signed letter thing seems to be the current tactic. They allegedly did it with Greenhow and others who also ‘left’.

Would other civil servants prepare the letter of resignation for signing, and did politicos present those resigning with the ‘fair acompli’? Has the CM the power to get rid of a senior civil servant?

Yes, to the last question.  Of course if it was done in an incorrect way, there would be grounds for unfair or constructive dismissal, so either there must have been an attractive offer made, or (especially for younger employees) they must know that so much adverse information would come out in a tribunal that it would ruin their future employment prospects.

Normally another civil servant would prepare such a letter, but I suspect in the case of Greenhow it may have been prepared by Jane Poole-Wilson who is an employment lawyer.  That way nothing would leak out.

Rob Callister seems to be channelling Rob Callister at the moment.  Manx Radio has not one but two 'news' stories.  In one he says:  Manx Care has to be 'uniformal' which doesn't appear to even be a modern word and even if it was doesn't what he thinks it does.  He seems to be suggesting that the Minister should work more closely with Manx Care - ie the whole split that they were so enthusiastic about isn't working.  You can't have DHSC and Manx Care simultaneously separate and integrated.

Callister second pronouncement was on Onchan Commissioners.  Apparently the village has gone to hell since he stopped being one and it's all their fault (even though most of them are the same as when he was there).  Apparently people should consider standing - a call that might have been more useful two years ago, in the run up to the elections, rather than two and a half years before the next ones.

Well he got that right if nothing else.
