Rob Callister

The trouble with the report is that so much of it was redacted that the ‘context’ wasn’t available as a comprehensive piece of evidence. Which could be quite handy for someone who wanted to make the point that their comments were taken out of context.

The allegation that Mr Callister misled a senior civil servant about the views of the
departmental Members, in order to encourage that civil servant to consider their
position. He seems to forget this bit, in his interviews.

You can go on forever, arguing the toss. It’s not serving any purpose and the damage has been done. In some respects, Rob Callister has probably been naive and foolish, but not malicious. It’s obvious that there were power battles going on, the department being in such a mess. Rob Callister was probably not the best person to resolve those issues, but neither were Haywood and Co capable. A lesser Department may have been a good fit, but that is down to the management and leadership prowess of CM Cannan. Maybe Rob Callister was set up to fail?

I don't think a comment like that is naive and foolish, I think it is malicious. It is a disgusting thing to say to any employee and to compound it, by misrepresenting the views of the departmental members.

Man found guilty in Government Court apologised to Government Court to preserve £70,000 Government job but goes on Government paid for radio to deny Government legally binding decision then goes into said Government Court at 10am the following day taking his Government £70,000 like nothing fucking happened.

And he’s allowed to ask questions of the Government.

Let’s be honest my piss has been boiled.

Callister - useless

Cannan - zero identity anonymous

KLB - zero identity anonymous

Moorhouse - Village idiot just noise

Laxey and over that side - best if they fell in the sea and paid for the houses - Smith is a cartoon character Oh there’s the other one FFS

Claire Christian - saying popular things makes you popular- doing is a different thing

Hooper - bullied at school bullied by Alf unfortunately out of his depth.

Faragher - I’d rather shit in my hands and clap - or Chuck a Fistful of notes out the window - better value for money to pay 2 people £35k and recycle the £50 notes.

JPW - had big hopes for her until finding out her husband had Govt financial influence.

And Awaaaay

Do you have a link to court case report or name of person? presumably there will be internal disciplinary hearings?

Well observed. Last paragraph sounds right - conflicts of interest?

Whoooooosh - the clue is in the thread title and to help you out further The Court of Tynwald - I’m sure you can join up the dots from there.

Hope you don’t need to ask an overpaid Teacher 😂😂😂

It's not so much that he's forgotten it as he denies it.  The conversation took place between the two of them privately and the civil servant claims Rob said something that Callister says he didn't.  So either one of them is lying or there was a misunderstanding.  Mark Egan's Report says that he believes the civil servant but that seems based on collaboration from the Departmental Members who heard it from the same civil servant, not directly.

The trouble is that this assumes that DHSC civil servants are all completely honest, competent and disinterested people who are doing their best.  While past experience (not just from Ranson) may indicate that this isn't always the case.  Rather in the way that the claims of staff being traumatised by Callister has to be taken in the context of then having survived under Murray and Magson, a Department notorious for backstabbing and bullying may not have changed its ways overnight.

Certainly a lot of MHKs thought so.  Not only was Callister's apology rather qualified by his voting against the Committee Report, but seven other MHKs and the Bishop joined him.  This is fairly unusual.  Even Watterson, who chaired the Committee seems to have some misgivings.
